Filing for bankruptcy can be a confusing and emotional time. That's why we've developed special programs to help you through this difficult process. As a fully approved agency*, our Bankruptcy Counseling and Education Program offers helpful information on the bankruptcy process and on improving your financial situation. We also offer the certificates of completion required by federal legislation.
You will be required to obtain 2 certificates, one before you file and a second after your bankruptcy is filed.
Before You File for Bankruptcy
Before filing bankruptcy you must first complete the required Pre-Bankruptcy Credit Counseling. The data input portion is available online or over the phone. Upon completion of the form, applicants schedule a time with a Comprehensive Credit Counselor to review information submitted and receive analysis of their financial position. A detailed Budget Analysis will be prepared. Applicants shall then be issued a certificate in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code and a copy of their Budget Analysis will be shared with their Bankruptcy Attorney in the event they choose to file.
